Social Media Followers Hint…
Simple; quality ALWAYS beats quantity! It’s interesting, the lengths people go to frantically trying to boost the number of followers they have on social media.
Whoa! Slow down! It isn’t about the number of social media followers you have. It’s about building a loyal following of people that share your interests. Social media is about engaging with real people. Particularly true if you’re hoping to communicate and grow your local customer base.
Content is key! Always has been, always will be. Provide info of value, of interest to your niche, post consistently and your quality list of followers will grow naturally.
Nurture relationships with social media followers and those you are following.
Please don’t spam! Provide 8 interesting, helpful, funny, relevant posts for every 2 advertisements.
Alas some sweet sweet brevity within the whirlwind world of Social Media.
3 effective Twittering tips that are real quick to implement:
Put your Twitter bio to good use: people check out your Twitter bio before following you. So make it good. Make it fun. Make it real. Choose words wisely, use the max available. Include your picture.
Include an image in your tweet. Of course you want your tweet shared, but first you have to get people to read it. In a recent split test conducted by @Buffer, tweets with pictures received 18% more clicks, 89% more favourites & 150% more retweets.
Engage with others on Twitter. Don’t just build it and wait for followers to come. Find, follow, like, retweet and instigate interesting Twitter conversations.
We have a saying in our house when someone gets distracted…”ooooo shiny!” Well, let me tell you when it comes to social media there’s an absolute abundance of distractions.
One social media challenge I had was tussling with insistent interruptions by notifications. I’d be twittering away when “pop” would go a Facebook notification or an Instagram like would flitter across the page. Intrigued I’d find myself off in another direction, a Tweet left unfinished and trail of thought lost indefinitely.
An important part of my business is the ability to manage multiple social media accounts. I have to stay on task, and stay on topic. It’s not as easy as you may think.
Notifications off, one disruption down…that one was easy. Please share your #SocialMedia pet peeve(s) and solutions with us in the comments.
What can I say? I enjoy coming up with lists of ATTENTION grabbing words. Which happens to be a good thing when you’re into Social Media.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again and probably again a few times after that. Words do matter! They should jump out at you.
Here is today’s list of whacky attention grabbers.
Notice the theme? Yup, suggestions from a thesaurus for the word wacky/whacky. Let’s see what else can I share in 49 words or less? I know, here’s a terrific #Twitter tip from @KimGarst. “Make your Tweets stand out – be funny, poignant, or otherwise unique”.
The way I figure it is, if I’m myself when I tweet then I know I’m being “otherwise unique”.
I can only imagine that you have struggled like most of us e-socializers with WORD block. It’s the social media equivalent to writers’ block.
Want to know a secret? Comic books; I kid you not. One of my favourite places to find attention GRABBING word ideas. Here’s a list of 29 ideas I jotted down after reading five pages of a Betty and Veronica Double Digest.
Sorry, did I say reading? I uh meant researching…
I’m not sure
Let an expert handle it
Of course not
Make up your mind will ya!
However, I’m disappointed
I just had a feeling
Just like that and POOF the word block is a goner!
Social Media may be all the rage over video right now. Tweets with pictures are wayyy more engaging than those without. Opened and read newsletter e-mails can deliver powerful results BUT bottom line is the “words” you choose to use.
They get the click or they don’t.
Words have to SCREAM read me. Words are the central driving force behind getting the response you want to your calls to action.
Tweeting has taught me how to make my point using carefully chosen attention grabbing words. A combination of powerful words that gets people to read and react. Fun words that encourage engagement.
BUZZ! BUZZ! My mind is a buzz with so many social media buzz words. Maybe it’s time for a little breather? Hmmm I wonder. Does blogging my little social media rant count? It’s a slippery slope.
I’ve decided that I’m allowing myself 140 words then no more #SocialMedia speak. How best to summarize? Must think carefully. I’ve already reached the halfway mark.
So, what’s been happening on the social media front this month? EVERYTHING!!! If I had to narrow it down to the top three buzz words being bantered around on social media I would have to say video, video and more video.
Eeeek only 27 words left to. April’s been a busy month in social media. Many exciting changes but at the same time WOW the energy it takes keeping up.
